I just arrived home from a 4 day southern excursion. Last Thursday I headed to Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland for some much needed r and r and sight seeing.
First stop Virginia Beach, VA! We annually head to the beach to breathe in the salty beach air, lay out on the beach, and soak up some sun. This trip we didn’t have much sun so views from the balcony of my hotel had to do. We did our usual board walk trek, checked out some shops and headed to dinner. On the way to North Carolina we checked out Mt. Trashmore, which is a park created out of an abandoned landfill. Getting to the top was pretty cool and there were tons of locals walking and working out as it’s a popular spot for outdoor workout.
The next leg of our trip was to Greenville, North Carolina to visit family. We spent an entire day bouncing from house to house catching up with an endless amount of family members. North Carolina like many southern states is full of open roads with tons of empty fields. It’s a nice change of pace to see land for miles in place of the congested “city life” that living in Fairfield County brings.
The last stop on our adventure was to Ocean City, Maryland. This was our first time visiting and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. It’s a compact beach with boardwalk and tons of beach shops and hotels right on the beachfront.
